About a boy

I rarely get to create for boys - having two girls, everything is girly, frilly and somewhat lacking in dinosaurs and dirt.  So when I got to use some new boy themed tabs from Tanya Leigh Designz I jumped at the chance to make a vintage style card and some cute little paper shoes.

I found some nice vintage pictures on Pinterest, including some alphabet cards, and a little shoe template and set to work creating with blue's, ink and twill.

I used patterned papers, some that looked like old newsprint, and a vintage picture.  I glossed the bubbles to give them some shine.  I also tucked in a 3-in-1 Word Ring - Boy around the top left corner of the picture.

The little shoes were created with blue Bazzill, and some brown Bazzill.  I created the stitches with a white Signo pen.

The rattle you can see in the picture is actually my brother's.  It's carved from one piece of wood and comes from New Zealand.  Both of my daughters played with it as babies.

You can find all sorts of these lovely vintage alphabet cards on Pinterest.

Here's a little close-up of the shoes.  I roughed them up a bit with some black ink and added a little metal embossed tag.

The little tabs are designed to be printed on photo paper, but since I was scrapping in the middle of the night, I printed them on card.  They print really nicely, with bold colours and clear words - either on card or photo paper.  I lifted the Word Ring slightly on 3D foam tabs.
